The Guitar Club Method

Welcome to Guitar Clubs

We are a unique and independent Music Service dedicated to teaching the guitar since 2004. Guitar Clubs evolved out of many years of teaching at schools and privately. The tutors are experienced, qualified musicians who have a passion and enthusiasm to inspire and share the fun of playing with this wonderfully versatile instrument.

Guitar Clubs have a small team of teachers that work at a number of schools in and around Sussex.

Currently Guitar Clubs teach over 150 students a week aged 6 - 14 at schools in Brighton, Hove, Portslade, Lewes, Seaford, Storrington, Barcombe, and North Chailey.

Each tutor is not only an experienced, qualified teacher, but also an active musician. The tutors have enhanced DBS certification and are also in continual professional development of their musical and teaching skills. Guitar Clubs tutors meet regularly to discuss new ideas, to compare notes and work on teaching strategies.

Guitar Clubs offer affordable, fun lessons that aim to build self-confidence through participation within a group. We teach a variety of different styles and genres of music (Blues, Classical, Rock, Pop, Reggae, Jazz, World, Celtic).

We explore song writing as well as the technical exercises, improvisation, sight reading and theory within a carefully designed syllabus that gives your child the skills to able to pursue the relevant grades with either Rockschool, Trinity Guildhall or RGT if they chose to.

"I love guitar lessons with Rupert. He is a fantastic teacher and I've learnt a lot from him. He explains everything clearly and is so kind! I love the books we use and am very proud of passing my grade 1 last year”.

William Bull

"My son Herbie loves his guitar lessons with Rupert. He's friendly and patient and mixes up their learning with songs the kids know and like, which keeps their interest levels high. It's been lovely watching his confidence on the guitar grow over this past year. Rupert was also great in lockdown and we really appreciated him keeping the lessons going on zoom and providing a welcome distraction from quarantine and home learning”.

Sam Haddad

"Rupert is a lovely man and he always helps me when I get stuck with the chords”.

"My son always looks forwards to his guitar lessons with Rupert. His excellent knowledge and skills, and calm approach to teaching makes every lesson wonderful. There is such a wide range of repertoire explored and it is wonderful to see my son's musicianship grow. Thank you Rupert”.

"I was really happy to pass my Grade 1 and 2 with distinction and I couldn’t have done it without Rupert’s help”.
