Welcome to Guitar Clubs

More than simply learning chords

Guitar Clubs provides enjoyable, progressive guitar and ukulele lessons for primary school children. Our small-group lessons are designed to make learning music engaging, rewarding and accessible.

Children learn much more than how to play their favourite songs. Through a carefully structured learning pathway, they develop rhythm, melody, sight-reading and technical skills while growing in confidence and learning how to participate as part of a group.

We teach in schools across East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire and Kent, making high-quality music tuition convenient for families and straightforward for schools.

Learn new skills

Children develop a strong musical foundation through sight-reading, rhythm, melody, chords, riffs, fingerstyle and strumming.

Grow in confidence

Friendly small-group lessons encourage children to participate, share what they have learnt and feel proud of their progress.

Progress with purpose

A clear learning pathway helps every child progress at an appropriate pace, with the option to work towards recognised guitar grades.

Learning that grows with your child

A clear pathway from first notes to guitar grades

Our progressive programme gives children the skills, knowledge and confidence to develop as musicians. Each stage builds naturally upon the one before it.

Learn new skills

Children develop a strong musical foundation through sight-reading, rhythm, melody, chords, riffs, fingerstyle and strumming.

Skills and songs

They then work through three progressive workbooks covering chords, playing by numbers, fingerstyle, strumming patterns, riffs and a growing range of songs.

Grade preparation

Once the three workbooks are complete, children should have the musical knowledge and technique needed to begin working towards Grade 1. We generally use the LCME Acoustic & Rock or Rockschool syllabus, depending on which is most suitable for the individual pupil.

Perform and progress

Children may have opportunities to perform for their peers during school assemblies and celebrate what they have achieved. We also arrange an exam centre twice a year for pupils who are ready to take a grade exam.

There is no obligation to take exams. Some children simply want to enjoy playing, while others appreciate having a recognised goal to work towards.
